Plant Based Food:

Plant Based Food:

What is plant based food? Plant based foods are foods that come from or are made from plant sources, including: fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, legumes, beans, fermented food and oils.

People who follow a plant based diet will generally eat plant based foods, some may also include other forms of food types into their diet.

Lactose Intolerance:

A person who has an intolerance to lactose is lactose intolerant.  Lactose is the sugar that is found in dairy products i.e. milk & cheese..  An intolerance is different to an allergy as an allergy involves the immune system & can result in an immunological response whereas an intolerance does not involve the immune system.
Symptoms vary from person to person, but may include: gas, diarrhea, bloating, belly pains and nausea. There is no treatment for lactose intolerance, but symptoms can be managed through dietary changes. People with lactose intolerance do not produce enough lactase to digest the natural sugars in milk products.  Dairy allergies are a reaction by the body’s immune system to dairy proteins – casein.

Dairy Allergy:

A Dairy allergy is an allergy to dairy products.  A person who is allergic to dairy will have some type of allergic response if they eat any product containing dairy this could be an allergy to milk, cheese, An allergic reaction is where a person will experience some sort of immune reaction to eating or being exposed to dairy products.  Depending on the severity of the allergy this could be a rash all the way through to problems breathing or even loss of consciousness.
