Also known as Khubz or khobuz, which is the Arabic word for bread,

Oven baked flat bread, pita or pitta bread,

Though pita is often smaller, drier & denser than Khubz.

Traditional Iraqi Bread

Khubz is considered a very important part of Arabic, in particular Iraqi dishes. Khubz often replaces utensils
including forks and spoons as the bread is used to dip & scoop up meat, vegetables, gravies & sauces.

Khubz, (a Traditional Iraqi bread) which up until a century ago was always baked in a mud oven – clay oven (called a tannour).

Every household had a tannour & Iraqi women would use the tannour to bake bread & cook food for the family.

Although often referred to as a flat bread, Khubz is over an inch thick & is round making it ideal to dip and scoop
food.
